Now in its 23rd year, World Trade Day is one of the largest international trade conferences in the Northeast region. More than 600 managers and executives are expected to attend and gain insights on burgeoning trends, technologies, and business practices in the global marketplace.

This year's conference, Making the Move into Emerging Markets, is about helping you identify opportunities to align your products, services, and technologies with the countries and regions where there is the most potential for growth.

For some companies, that could mean distributing a manufactured product abroad for the first time. For others, quality assurance, trade agreements, or intellectual property may be among the most urgent issues of the day.

Corporate responsibility and innovation, with a focus on environmental issues and green technologies will be an integral part of the discussion. World Trade Day is presented by the John H. Chafee Center for International Business. Throughout the year, you can take advantage of the Center's comprehensive services in all aspects of international business including trade data, training, international market research, expert consulting, and trade show and trade mission support.

I look forward to welcoming you to World Trade Day 2008. At the end of the day, I hope you'll be ready to make your next move toward achieving global success.

Raymond W. Fogarty
Director, Chafee Center for International Business and World Trade Center Rhode Island

Last year I attended World Trade Day for the first time. Ray Fogarty of the Chafee Center introduced me to one of the event's distinguished speakers, Dr. Alexander Lebedev, and several of his colleagues, and we discussed business opportunities in Russia. Through our organization's existing relationships with IBM and HP as well as a network of Chafee Center alliances and referrals, we were able to form a strategic joint venture with National Computer Corporation, one of the largest Russian IT companies. This new entity has already become the largest third-party maintenance company in Russia and is known there as "One Computer Service". We will soon become one of the largest privately held multi-vendor, multi-platform services companies in the world. All of this happened because we were at World Trade Day. We certainly look forward to this year's conference!
